Finding the Realms of the Ethereal

To think where it began.......

It's been seven or eight years since I've been free to create the way I do now.
The darkness dissolved
and my soul came out singing a song my ears had never heard....
thank God!!

Art work used to come painfully to me
out of my own wounds,
dark and incomplete.

I had felt like my soul was a desert,
and there was no water-
nothing to supply life.

But when the healing came,
there was a down pour so heavy,
days upon days were spent going from one project to another....
painting, collages, sewing, jewelry making-
all with the same strong flow of life and sculptural heartbeat.

Along the way

I paused and admired many shiny things....
I always preferred to wear a dress
and find something to revel in that made me feel like a child.....

I found that creative liberty in dresses with soft ethereal layers,
often in subdued tones of pink or cream....
My shoes were either non existent, or I wore a painful pair of silver lurex shoes-
hence my shoes were mostly off !

Then there were the times I beheld the raw and bold tones,
and covered myself in rich turquoise,
coral or sapphire.

My motto was to wear a beautiful dress everyday...even just to the local shops,
because everyday was full of splendor,
now,
and each moment was to be celebrated......

I was flying

So when I got married I was already circling the heights of the ethereal,
and there was nowhere to go but up....
for me that meant biting the bullet and delving into silk....
one of the most impractical fabrics in the sense that it doesn't like to be washed in the washing machine....

All the same, I bought reams of embroidered silk gorgette....
The fabric looked as if it was ready to be swathed about my body with little or no structure.

So this is where we begin?

I suppose that I equate what I describe as these 'ethereal' creations of mine with the experience of wholeness of life and unspeakable joy...
so I have given it the highest place in my repertoire....
though that is not necessarily accurate, because 'out of the heart flow streams of living water'....
so ultimately, whatever I put my hand to will be animated by that source of life....
and how grateful am I ? !!!!
